trends in internet , social media, govt. initiatives
Weird ideas of yesterday sometimes turn out to be best innovations in the future history. Many such ideas really rules the world now. Change is always there. I feel it has become fast paced, easily felt these days.
This is atleast very much true with ICT( Information & Communication Technology).I had the privilege to use different, advanced storage media in every year of our college life ( 2003 – 2008). Days of using splitter to carry mp3 songs ( 3mb size ) in 3,4 floppies (1.44 mb) in the 1st year changed to cd and dvd writers in 2nd and 3rd year. By end of the third year, we got to use pen drive of 512 mb and rest is history.
I just remembered this when I got to think about how our access , interaction and expectations changed in these 3-4 years with internet re aligning itself to push the boundaries. I never thought so soon , we will even talk about “citizens shall have the right to electronic delivery of services”. It is now happening with circulation of draft Electronic Delivery of Services Bill, 2011. I am doubtful if this can soon be demanded practically as a right ,with the given infrastructure and exposure; but even discussing about it is welcome move in right direction.
Interaction among ourselves , across trade, on govt delivery has also began to see a change with coming of social media. Twitter and facebook links started finding places in resume and business cards; Foreign secretary tweets and answers the questions posed to her. Many govt institutions like india Post & census 2011 interacts in social media too.
I see ICT as a weapon for efficient delivery and transparency in govt. services and transactions. Govt. ambitiously brought out TAGUP to quicken up this process along with UIDAI. ( here is interesting article on TAGUP). Having seen the computerization of Indian customs with EDI & NIDB , my expectations seems viable :)
Ultimately Its success lies in the bottom strata of people enjoying the fruits of these innovations. These can be done only by tweaking with mobile services with added security and confidentiality.Since computer is not available everyone and everywhere, mobile is the next destination. Its biggest obstacle is security issues and standards. yes but it evolve very soon so that I can order and transact my groceries mobiline ;also get notified pay my traffic fines mobiline.
you forgot to mention how you setup a cooling system for your PC! :P
